The Falcon Garden Club is a participant in the Colorado Bluebird Project. This program is operated solely by volunteers of the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the Audubon Society of Greater Denver with the purpose of sustaining and increasing bluebird populations in Colorado by providing nestboxes in suitable habitat that are monitored and maintained. Competition from non-native bird species and loss of habitat are a serious threat to the bluebirds. A bluebird box trail has been established in the Falcon area and currently consists of 5 boxes that are monitored by club members. The Woodmen Hills Metro District has agreed to allow the placement of more nestboxes for the Falcon Trail in the local open space under their domain. Information reported by volunteers from bluebird trails across the state is collected and reported annually to the North American Bluebird Society (NABS) (www.nabluebirdsociety.org).
